For these reasons we are hosting this global community event to unite people around the world through a common goal: to do a hike on New Year’s Day!

So if you’re still not convinced that a hike on New Year’s Day is absolutely the best decision you are going to make next year, we have some prizes to giveaway as an extra incentive (and mostly just for fun!).

This year we gave away The Hiking Club hiking socks to 20 people who posted their hiking story in our community group.

Everyone who shared their hike story with our community also went in the draw to win the major prize: a pair of The Hiking Club hiking socks, a copy of Modern Adventurers: Stories from the Alps book, and the opportunity to have their New Year’s Day Hike showcased in our Newsletter.

Join OUR global hiking community!

Wherever you are in the world, you won’t be hiking alone as part of this global hike. From the Alps to the Andes, this is a global hiking event and that means 24 hours of New Year’s Day hiking adventures!

At some point during the day you can sit back and think: wow, there is someone hiking a trail somewhere in the world right now! That is so cool. As part of The Hiking Club Community, people from all over the world are there to encourage you and share in your hike story, your challenges and your wins. 

Some of you will hike rugged-up on snowy trails, some of you will hike in the rain. Some of you will be battling flies, others a hangover. Wherever you are and whatever state you hit the trail, we guarantee you’ll feel better for getting out and enjoying the fresh, raw and glorious beauty of nature - rain, hail or shine.
