Training for a multi-day hike in the Alps is not easy when you live at sea level. It can be hard to know how best to prepare your body for big elevations, mountain conditions, and back-to-back days on the trail.
Our 2025 training bundle is designed for hikers preparing for a multi-day hike in the Alps, such as Tour du Mont Blanc, Walker’s Haute Route, Alta Via 1 Dolomites, Tour of Monte Rosa and Bernese Oberland Traverse. It’s for those that are looking to improve their hiking performance through a combination of step endurance, cardio and strength activities.
The 2025 training bundles includes 2 of our popular training materials:

FAQs:
Is this program for beginners or more advanced hikers?
This program can be tailored for any level of hiker. It provides information so you can create a training program based on your current fitness level (including step count and weekly cardio and/or strength sessions).
Does this training program work if I have less than 3 months to train for my hike?
You can modify the calendar template for the number of training weeks you have until you start your trip. Depending on your current endurance base, trail, and number of training weeks left, you may be able to complete the plan. If you do not have enough training weeks left to complete the plan, you will still receive some benefit. However, we don't recommend manipulating the inputs so you can complete the training plan in a shorter time that recommended as our training methodology is designed to gradually build up your strength and endurance before your trip, to avoid injury in the lead up to your hike.
Does this training program work for hikes not in the Alps?
Yes, you can you this 3 month training for any hiking trip you are preparing for. Ideally if you know the distance and elevation gain of your multi-day hike you can input into the training template to understand your weekly step goals.
Do I need any specific technology or gadgets for the plan?
You must have some way to track your daily steps. This could be using your phone or a wearable (like Apple Watch, Garmin, Fitbit).
