Grand Balcon Sud

Where will you find this route?

  • Tour du Mont Blanc (main trail)

  • Walker’s Haute Route (alternative route)

Trail Description:

From Tre le Champ, the route enters the forest on a trail that is rocky and uneven underfoot. After climbing up a series of metal ladders near Aiguillette d Argentiere, you will reach a junction where the trail joins with the Grand Balcon Sud. The main route follows the Grand Balcon Sud gradually down to La Flegere along an exposed path offering endless eyeline views of the Mont Blanc massif. The balcony trail continues to snake along the valley with a moderate climb required on the final section to Plan Praz. A gondola connects Plan Praz with Chamonix in the valley ~1,000m / 3,280ft below.
