2024 Alta Via 1 Dolomites Trail Updates

Every year hikers from all over the world flock to the Dolomites to complete one of the most famous multi-day trails, Alta Via 1. It is a challenging journey of physical, mental and spiritual triumph. Our mission is to help these adventurers confidently plan and safely navigate their journey in the Dolomites.

One of the core pieces of information that gives hikers the confidence to complete their trip is having access to the latest Alta Via 1 Dolomites trail updates, including snow conditions, route detours, and general trail conditions. It helps hikers prepare the right gear, select the right route, and be aware of any trail updates that might impact their itinerary.

For the past 5 years, The Hiking Club has been sharing the most up-to-date trail conditions for other legendary trails, such as Tour du Mont Blanc and Walker’s Haute Route. This year, we are extending our program to the Dolomites!

We’ll update any known trail issues, diversions, planned works, bridge installations etc below.

Have any update to share with the community? Email us at info@thehiking.club

April 2024: Palafavera Chairlift will be closed for summer 2024

Rifugio Palafavera have confirmed that the Palafavera chairlift will be closed for Summer 2024 due to maintenance work. Therefore, there isn’t an option for hikers to skip the 1.6km / 158m elevation section that the chairlift usually allows hikers to skip. No impact to hiking trails, they will remain open.

If you had previously added this chairlift to your itinerary, we recommend removing it so your hiking stats for that day are accurate.

The Palafavera chairlift will be closed for summer 2024.

October 2023: Lavaredo Ultra Running race scheduled for 26 to 30 June, 2024

The 2024 Lavaredo ultra trail running race will be held between 26th and 30th June 2024. If you are hiking around the Cortina area during this time, make sure to factor in extra time for cheering and letting runners past. It's pretty inspiring to share the trail with athletes that can run 120km / 75mi in less than 13 hours!
